Photography (Part 1--IELTS Speaking)


Question 1:
Do you like taking photographs?

Sample Answer 1:

Oh yes, I love taking photographs! There's something so satisfying about capturing a moment in time and being able to revisit it later. Whether it's a beautiful landscape, a cute animal, or a candid shot of friends or family, I always have my camera at the ready.

Sample Answer 2:

Actually, I don't really like clicking pictures. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate good photography and I can see the value in capturing memories and moments. But personally, I find that focusing too much on pictures can take away from the experience itself.


Question 2:
How often do you take photographs?

Sample Answer 1:

I take photographs all the time! Whenever I see something interesting or beautiful, I just can't help but snap a picture -- whether it's a gorgeous sunset, a funny sign, or a delicious meal. Even at family gatherings, I always bring my camera.

Sample Answer 2:

Honestly, I hardly ever take photographs. I'm happy that I don't feel the need to constantly document my life. Another reason I don't click too many pictures is that my brother is more of a photographer in the family. So, there's also no need for me to click pics.


Question 3:
Which was the last picture that you clicked?

Sample Answer 1:

The last picture I clicked was of my dog. He was snoozing on the couch and looked so cute, I couldn't resist capturing the moment. I remember this distinctly because it was just this morning.

Sample Answer 2:

Honestly, I don't remember. I don't take pictures very often, so it's been a while since I've snapped anything. I went for a weekend getaway a couple of weeks ago and clicked a few pics with my friends. I think those must be the last pictures that I captured.


Question 4:
Do you have a special place in your house where you like to click pictures?

Sample Answer 1:

Yes, I actually do! There's a little reading nook in my living room that gets the most beautiful natural light in the afternoon. The light is perfect and it always makes my pictures look so dreamy and soft. That's why it's become my go-to spot for taking pictures.

Sample Answer 2:

Not really. I don't have a specific spot that I prefer to take pictures in. I usually just wander around the house and take pictures wherever the mood strikes. I like to mix it up and keep things spontaneous.


Question 5:
Do you think the value of photographs has been reduced because of digital cameras?

Sample Answer 1:

No, I don't think the value of photographs has reduced at all. If anything, digital cameras have made it easier for people to take more photos. Sure, there are a lot of low-quality, throwaway pictures out there, but there are also some truly amazing photos. Plus, the ability to store and share photos online means that they can be seen and appreciated by people all over the world.

Sample Answer 2:

Maybe a little bit, yeah. With digital cameras and smartphones, it's so easy to take a million pictures of everything and anything, but it can be hard to sift through them and find the ones that really matter. Plus, there's something special about holding a physical photo in your hand -- it feels more tangible and real than just scrolling through a digital album. But that being said, I still think photos are valuable and important, even if they're not printed out.


Question 6:
What is your opinion about selfies?

Sample Answer 1:

I actually really enjoy taking selfies! They're a fun way to capture a moment or an outfit or just to show off a new haircut. Plus, with smartphones and social media, it's so easy to click and share selfies and get instant feedback. Of course, I don't think they should be the only type of photos people take, but as part of a larger collection.

Sample Answer 2:

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of selfies. I think they can be a little bit self-centred and superficial, and sometimes it seems like people are more concerned about getting the perfect shot than actually enjoying the moment.
