Computers (Part 1--IELTS Speaking)

Question 1:
Do you often use a computer?

Sample Answer 1:

Absolutely. I use a computer every day for work, entertainment, and communication.

Sample Answer 2:

Not really. I prefer to do things the old-fashioned way with pen and paper, and only use a computer when necessary.


Question 2:

Out of these options, such as work, entertainment, or communication, what do you use a computer for the most?

Sample Answer 1:

Well, I use a computer for work the most. I have a job that requires me to use a computer for most of the day, whether it's for writing reports, sending emails, or attending virtual meetings. While I do use a computer for entertainment and personal communication as well, work takes up most of my computer usage.

Sample Answer 2:

Out of these options, I use a computer for entertainment the most. I enjoy watching movies and TV shows on my computer, playing video games, and browsing social media. While I do use a computer for work and communication as well, I try to limit those activities to avoid burnout and enjoy my free time.


Question 3:

Have you ever experienced any problems or issues with your computer, such as viruses or crashes?

Sample Answer 1:

Yes, I have experienced problems with my computer. Once I got a virus from downloading a file from an untrusted website. It was a big hassle to remove the virus and it slowed down my computer for a while. I had to contact the tech guy to solve the problem.

Sample Answer 2:

Definitely, I've had a lot of problems with my computer in the past. One time, I accidentally spilt water on my laptop and it completely stopped working. I had to get it repaired and lost a lost of important files in the process.


Question 4:

What steps do you take to protect your personal information and data while using your computer?

Sample Answer 1:

I always make sure to use strong passwords for all my accounts and never share them with anyone. I also use antivirus software and regularly update my operating system and apps to prevent security vulnerabilities.

Sample Answer 2:

To protect my personal information, I avoid clicking on suspicious links and always check the URL before entering sensitive information on a website. I also use a virtual private network (VPN) when using public Wi-Fi to prevent others from accessing my data.


Question 5:

Do you prefer using a desktop or laptop computer?

Sample Answer 1:

I prefer using a desktop computer because it's more powerful and I can upgrade components like the graphics card or RAM. I also find it more comfortable to use a separate keyboard and mouse.

Sample Answer 2:

I prefer using a laptop computer because it's portable and I can use it anywhere. I also like that I can easily connect to Wi-Fi and use it for both work and leisure.
