Sample Essay

Although it is a famous saying and a fact of life that change is the only constant in life, not everyone looks at change favourably. While trying new activities is preferred by some, others would rather continue with whatever they have a familiarity with. Both the outlooks have their own reasons.

As far as the first choice of seeking out novel experiences in life is concerned, there can be various reasons for the same, the first being that the person could have an adventurous spirit. This craving for adventure and excitement can range from trying exotic foods to giving extreme sports a chance. Secondly, many a person consciously tries unusual pursuits as a way of increasing their knowledge. For example, if one chooses to vacation in a variety of places, one becomes knowledgeable about the places, their history, and their lifestyle. Last but not least, sometimes people have such jobs that they need to stay updated about the latest trends, an example of which could be a person who works in the fashion industry. Embracing change and welcoming it is an indispensable part of such professions. Therefore, there may be a variety of factors why one may opt for diverse and new pursuits.

On the other hand, it cannot be assumed that everyone chooses change and excitement. Although monotony may bore some, others may find solace in being in their comfort zone day in and day out. After all, lounging in front of the television or relaxing with a book at the end of the day is what many of us would prefer over thrilling exploits. However, I do believe that choosing to be completely closed off can be rather limiting at a young age but can be a blessing as one grows older.

In conclusion, it is obvious that one can benefit considerably from pursuing ingenious experiences. However, in my opinion, it depends on each individual’s temperament, lifestyle, and profession whether they embrace change or choose safe monotony. I, personally, think that most of us are neither of the two extremes and are adventurous beings on some occasions and boring ones preferring humdrum of everyday life on others. And that is how it should be.
